About us

Baby steps and leaps of faith.

The stages of the “journey” of Fatima’s life have allowed her to accomplish a personal dream for some years now!

Fatima was born in Africa and the vicissitudes of life brought her back to the country of her parents – Portugal.

Arriving in Europe in the early 1980’s she visited travelled some countries, but life dictated that she should conform to a “normal” way of life for women at that time – create a family, a home and have a 9 to 5 job. However, her spirit was restless, she did not feel in tune with the world.

She first heard about the Camino of Santiago from a friend and it was a new awakening! In 2011 she walked the Camino for the first time and has not stopped since.
Through Europe and South America, Fatima has more than 3000 thousand kilometres under her feet, with many blisters, many worn out shoes and sandals as a result!

She completed two of the three pilgrimage routes in the world (Santiago and Rome) and hosted in all kinds of houses. From all her experiences the dream was born of giving something back to other walkers of life, who had brought her so many new experiences and knowledge.

The idea would be to open a hostel where the atmosphere would be welcoming and with excellent amenities. After several years of accumulating know-how by working for other owners of similar establishments, she managed to take over an existing hostel halfway along the French Camino, in the town of Sahagún, placed on the Spanish Plateau.

Now she is working to transform this space into the experience we would all like to have when we take off our boots after many miles of walking!

The mission:

  • To create a pleasant and friendly atmosphere and offer the best possible services/amenities from the beginning to the end of your stay.
  • For hikers and travellers, we want to be the best place you can stay at, overnight or longer, and charge your batteries. However, if all you need is a quick respite, that is also possible as we have light meals and drinks on offer.
  • For the local population we want to be considered a good place for people to stop, drink a coffee, have a glass of wine, have a snack, bring friends for a chat.
  • We encourage everyone to pick up the guitar or the drums and give wings to their virtuosity.
  • For employees we want to be a place that accepts diversity and gives people the freedom to be creative and independent, but always striving for excellence when taking care of our customers.
  • We want frankly and open communication with all our customers and within our organization.
  • We want to be a place that is constantly innovating about what and how we can best serve our customers and for that we need constructive and inspiring feedback.
  • We are excited about building strong relationships with everyone we interact with, our customers, our community, and our suppliers.
  • The community is especially important to us as we are an active part of it.
  • We buy from local suppliers and in the local market and try to consider the special needs of our customers.
